What can you say about Snappy Lunch? The food, service and prices are all pretty much perfect. There just seems to be a genuine friendly, caring atmosphere about the place. If you've already been here you know what I mean. If you haven't been here yet - then you need to try it. Sadly, I only get to Mount Airy a couple of times a year. Breakfast at Snappy Lunch is always at the top of my to-do list here. There's just nothing like it that I have seen.
A true historical restaurant in Mt Airy NC. (Aka Mayberry) The famous pork chop sandwich is delicious. All the servers are extremely friendly and polite! Great place to enjoy some awesome food and relax and take a trip back in time. Oh ya, the prices are like going back in time too!
If you want to go back in time to when people were friendly and the food was homemade and delicious then go to snappy lunch. My server was the sweetest thing ever and kept calling me love and sweetie. I had the bacon and eggs with a biscuit. The food was delicious and the biscuit was ginormous. They gave me real butter and jelly instead of the prepackaged stuff. This is a great little experience and a good place to eat.
I’ve been to snappy lunch twice now and planning on going back December 2025. I know some folks will disagree but I found the pork chop sandwich to be absolutely delicious all the way. It’s literally a meal that will sustain you. Both times I’ve been to visit, the food was delicious and the staff was warm and welcoming. You can’t beat the atmosphere of the place. Being an old guy, I can appreciate this. It reminds me of the drugstore counters. My grandmother and I used to visit when I was a kid.
The pork chop sandwich was delicious. We were skeptical at first, but the flavors blended together nicely. Large enough for two people to share. Service was friendly.
We were leery but ordered the pork chop sandwich, which is actually pork loin. We had toppings on the side, as I don't like mustard. I liked it, it is different. Person I was with didn't like it, said it didn't have any flavor, he forgot to put mustard in it. I would go back.
Been coming to Snappy's for a pork chop sandwich for years, and always enjoy it. Used to watch Charles cook those famous pork chops on the griddle by the front window and loved how he'd hold em up as if getting people outside to smell or try and take a bite lol. It's just a little "hole-in-the-wall" diner type place that everyone should try at least once!! 😁
This place is truly unique as is Mt Airy. What a gem this little Mayberry city is, right out of the Andy Griffith show. The food was unique as well. You have to have the breaded porkchop sandwich all the way !!!! It's very good and very filling. The ladies behind the counter are wonderful but because this place is pretty busy you don't get to talk to them much. Mt Airy is a must do as well as Snappys. Breakfast is served until 10:30 and then it switches to lunch until 1:45.
My love and I both enjoyed the historical atmosphere and the famous pork chop sandwiches. The sandwiches were unique, but neither of us would ever want another. It was worth the experience. Our server was wonderful. She was personable, friendly and knowledgeable. Everyone should go there at least once.
I edited my review to add this. If you read a bad review on the snappy lunch, be sure to look at how many reviews they have given. To me it seems any bad review has come from someone with 10 or less reviews. I have never ate at a restaurant that has crushed all three categories with 5 stars. It’s starts with the atmosphere. If you’re old enough to remember black and white tv shows, or even love nostalgia, you will not want to pass this little place up. This small but cozy little restaurant is full of Andy Griffin memorabilia and the walls lines with old time photos. The booths surround the service station which allows the servers to keep a close eye on their customers. The service was nothing short of amazing. Lisa waited on me and I was never left needing anything. She was super friendly which in fact everyone was. Even the kitchen staff, when out on the floor maintained a smile and engaged the customers in a super friendly manner. The food! I swear I felt like my grandmother has just made me breakfast back in the late 70’s. I ordered the egg and bacon biscuit sandwich. It was twice the size of any of those nasty chain restaurants and were as fluffy as the clouds on a clear spring day. The bacon was crisp and hanging over the edges. The egg was perfectly cooked, fluffy and still steaming. I like to try numerous items from the menu anywhere I go and my second choice was one of my favorites. Gravy and biscuit. Again a huge fluffy biscuit cut in half and smothered in real sausage gravy. I easily had enough gravy for at least two biscuits. The flavor again was like my grandmother herself had mad it for me. Again the gravy had steam rising from the plate and was an excellent choice. Conclusion. If you are anywhere within 50 miles of MT Airy NC or looking for a great place to plan your next trip, consider stopping through MT Airy and eating at Snappy Lunch! You would have to be crazy to pass this place up. My entire bill was less than 10$.
